As much as I love spending time outside in the sun, my body gets overheated pretty easily. I hate the feeling of having a sticky and warm body. So I have found some tricks to keep cool all day and night.
Drink lots of water
The best thing after being outside in the sun is to have a big glass of ice-cold water. I love putting a big jar of water in the fridge, so when I feel like drinking something cold, there is always something there.
My favorite drink on a hot day is a glass of super cold sparkling water with the juice of half a lemon. It tastes like a healthy version of 7 up or sprite, it is so good!
Especially at night when I am sleeping, I get overheated very easily. I just can’t fall asleep and that causes me to feel bad and annoyed the next day. So to be able to sleep at night I use these three methods.
Thin Blanket
I wish I could sleep without a blanket, but for some reason my body just needs something on top of my body to feel ready to go to sleep. I use a super thin bedsheet which doesn’t really add a layer of heat, but does give me the feeling that there is a blanket on my body.
Freezer Blocks
This one might sound a little weird, but when it is really warm at night I like to use freezer blocks to cool down my body. I lay the freezer blocks on my wrist as this helps to cool down the entire body. Before I go to bed I press the freezer blocks on different parts of my body which feel extra warm like my arms, neck and cheeks. I leave the freezer blocks on my wrist while sleeping.
Basement
When it is just too warm and all the other options weren’t able to help, I take my mattress and trow it down the stairs. Yes, laying in the basement while its hot outside is the best thing ever! It is so nice and cool, I love it! Unfortunately this isn’t an option for everyone, but if you have a basement you should totally try this one out.
I hope these tips help you to survive these warm summer days. If you have any tips you would like to add to the list, I would love to know them!
These are great tips girl! I switch out my duvet for blankets in the summer for the exact same reason – I need that weight, but not the warmth xx
