Rice cakes might not seem like the most exciting thing in the stores and I agree, fruits and vegetables are much more fun! However you can transform your plain and boring rice cakes into exciting little treats! These are my favourite rice cake toppings at the moment, but you can use these toppings on what ever plain food you want.
All these toppings are completely different and are all delicious in their own way. Experiment with the different flavours and see which ones you like the best.
Apple Pie Rice Cake
- 1 rice cake
- 2 apples
- 1/6 tsp cinnamon
Cut 1/4 of one of the apples and put it on the side. Take the rest of the apples and cut them into small cubes. Put the cubes in a saucepan with a tiny bit of water and cook until you have a smooth sauce. Take your rice cake and add the applesauce on top. Cut the leftover apples into small strips and add them on the rice cake together with a bit of cinnamon.
Carrot Spread Rice Cake
- 1 rice cake
- 1 carrot
- 1 tsp onion
- 2 tsp orange juice
- ginger powder
- nutmeg
- garlic paste
Cut the carrot and onion into small pieces add them to a saucepan with water and cook until soft. Put the carrot and onion in a mixing bowl and mash them together. Add the orange juice and mix again. Now add tiny amount of the ginger powder, nutmeg and garlic paste and keep adding a more according to your liking. Put the spread on a rice cake and add a basil leaf for decoration if you want.
Red Fruit Jam Rice Cake
- 1 rice cake
- 1/2 – 1 cup (frozen) red fruit
In a saucepan add the frozen fruit and cook until you get a nice and thick sauce. Now put the sauce on top of the rice cake.
Banana and Vanilla Rice Cake
- 1 rice cake
- 1/2 banana
- 1/6 tsp vanilla powder
Cut the banana into coins, put them on the rice cake and sprinkle some vanilla powder on top.
Vegetable Rice Cake
- 1 rice cake
- 1 lettuce leaf
- 1/6 carrot
- 1/8 cucumber
- 1/8 bell pepper
Cut the lettuce leaf into pieces and put it on your rice cake. Cut the carrot, cucumber and bell pepper into thin slices and sprinkle them on top.

I always put the same things on my rice cakes. Either peanut butter and bananas or almond butter and raisins..I have a sweet tooth…

Haha, thank you so much, that is so sweet <3. I used to be a nutbutter addict, I would eat spoons full. But I personally like to eat a bit more low fat now and nuts make me feel very sick, so I don't eat them anymore.
