When you start cooking your oatmeal in fresh apple juice, you never want to go back to almond milk again! It is sweet, but still creamy and perfect for the colder fall days. Lately it has been a lot colder in the Netherlands and so rainy. Almost everyday of the week I got home after school and felt like I jumped into a pool with all my clothes on :(.
I feel like I haven’t created a recipe in a while, so now the weekend has started it is time to get creative again! To keep in the flower theme from my last poem post: Finding the Light, I thought it would be fun to create this apple rose oatmeal that will help you shine all day!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh, unsweetened apple juice
- 1/2 oats
- 2/3 – 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 apple
Directions:
Start by pouring the apple juice into a small cooking pot and heat it up. Add the oats and cook until you get a thick consistency and finally mix in the cinnamon. When the oatmeal is hot and thick enough, turn down the stove.
While the oatmeal is cooking, cut your apple in quarters and then in thin slices. Place the slices on a plate and microwave for 2-3 minutes.
Put the oatmeal in a bowl and start creating the rose with the heated up apple slices.
For the first slice just roll it up and press it just a little into the oatmeal to keep it in place. For all the other slices, just keep placing them around the centre until you have a nice, large rose or until the slices are all used. I recommend looking at the picture, this makes it a lot easier.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend, I would love to hear what you are up to this weekend.
Love what you’ve done with the apple, the presentation looks superb
